In 2004 Barney Cummings and Dave Dawson began BWD Equine Services Ltd., a company designed to meet the various needs of horse owners. They have 8 farriers on hand and one office administrator. BWD Equine Services Ltd has grown to include Farrier Services as well as Horse Transport and the distribution of Farrier's Formula from Life Data Labs.

Barney Cummings

Barney Cummings has nearly 30 years of experience in the farrier industry. He maintains a large network of farriers, having trained several and currently employs 2 full-time and 2 part-time. He is a current member and has served on the board of the Ontario Farrier’s Association (OFA) and a current member of the American Farrier’s Association.

Barney Cummings served as the farrier for the Canadian Dressage and Jumper teams at the Athens Olympics and he was farrier to members of the Canadian and Columbian team at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of whom went on to become silver medallist that year.  Barney is also the personal farrier to several high-end competitors including a Gold Medal Dressage competitor at the 2006 Royal Agricultural Fair in Toronto.

In support of the equine industry Barney Cummings has shared his expertise at many speaking engagements such as the Ontario Veterinarian Medical Association Annual Convention, Canadian School of Equine Physiotherapists, Cadora, Equine Back Symposium, Can Am All Breed Show and the Sport Horse Magazine Equine Health Care Symposium.

David Dawson

Dave Dawson is the owner of David G. Dawson Farrier Inc. in Uxbridge, Ontario. Dave founded this company in 1995 and it has continued to flourish into a multi-farrier business now employing two full-time and two part time farriers.   In order to stay current in the ever-developing field of Farriery, Dave regularly attends Forums, Conventions and Educational seminars including the AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners).

Dave is the current president of the Ontario Hackney Association where he has served on the board of directors for over 12 years.  Dave is the past director and former member of the Ontario Farrier’s Association (OFA) and is a member of the Ontario Equestrian Federation (OEF) and the American Farrier’s Association (AFA). Dave has also spent several years training and showing as a competitor in the “in hand” and driving circuits.

 Dave attended Seneca College where he studied business management and accounting.  Dave graduated from the Farrier Science program in 1995 with honours.  After completing school, he travelled to Simpsonville, Kentucky, where he apprenticed as a farrier in the gaited horse world and worked at  “Kentucky Blacksmith Supply Store”, Dave also gained valuable experience in Horse Transportation while in the USA.  Dave later returned to Ontario to apprentice and work in the Hunter/Jumper and Dressage sectors.

Sarah Pratt

Sarah Pratt began her career in the hospitality industry with a strong emphasis on personnel, training and human resources. Sarah’s dedication to service has been recognized with several corporate awards and an editorial in a National Magazine.  After 10 years in the upscale resort environment Sarah turned her attention to the Staffing Industry – in particular “HospitalityStaff®”, a specialist staffing and recruitment company devoted to the needs of the hotel, lodging and food and beverage industry where she worked as a Manager and Managing Partner overseeing two South Florida Offices and achieving over $1 Million in staffing sales within her first year.

Sarah was a former member of the American Staffing Association and has had formal training in employment law and recruitment procedures.

Sarah has been an equestrian since the age of 7 and has had experience working for private and schooling yards. Sarah spent several years training and competing in Cross Country and Show Jumping while living back home in England.

B.W.D Equine Services allows Sarah to combine two things that she is truly passionate about.. Horses and Hospitality.
